The Strength Within: a Trauma-Informed Yoga Series at ELXR Yoga Lounge

Join Jasmine for "The Strength Within": a trauma-informed yoga series designed to guide you to and help you ignite the strength that already lies within each of us. Guided by yogic principles, nervous system awareness, and sensitivity to how trauma impacts our mind and body, each session in this three-part series will help you build resilience, self-awareness, and a tender approach to your yoga practice. 

What to Expect in this series

In each 2-hour session, you’ll be guided through a number of trauma-informed practices:

  • Movement (Active and Passive): GENTLE Yoga sequences to release tension, support healing, and empower your movement with autonomy.

  • Group Discussion: Open, safe, and confidential dialogues to explore experiences and perspectives.

  • Journaling: Guided prompts for introspective insights.

  • Breathwork: Techniques to center the mind and calm the nervous system.

  • Meditation: Mindful practices to cultivate awareness and presence.

  • Emotional Anatomy: Explore how emotions and energy is stored in our bodies. 

session Themes

Each session focuses on key themes in healing: grounding, connection, and purposeful living. 

  • Session 1:  Rooted Resilience to find your strength 
    December 15th, 1–3 pm
    Discover the stability of connecting back to your own roots. Learn mindfulness practices that show how we can reconnect to our core foundation.  We’ll explore the importance of grounding, incorporating breath work and gentle movement that is designed to connect you to your core, and bring your foundational energy centers into balance.

  • Session 2:  Open Heart, Balanced Flow  
    January 19th, 1–3 pm
    Our heart center holds a lot of power that teaches us to give and receive energy with openness and care. We’ll explore healthy boundaries in energy exchange, developing skills to create balance in giving and receiving in our relationships and self-care practices.

  • Session 3:  Aligned and Balanced Purpose 
    February 16th, 1–3 pm
    This final series brings together the themes of groundedness and balanced energy to explore practices that help you communicate authentically, connect to your purpose, and shine your light. The journey concludes with tools to deepen your sense of purpose and find meaning in everyday life in navigating the impact of trauma in our lives.

Jasmine Canady-Hartman, LMSW

Jasmine has dedicated her professional, academic, and personal journey to understanding trauma, the dynamics of society, and the processes of healing. Her studies began in 2015 with a focus on human behavior, leading to her first certification in trauma-informed care in 2019. Jasmine earned her Master’s in Social Work in 2023 and has applied her skills across various social work settings. A passionate yoga practitioner, Jasmine completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 and was a scholarship recipient for a Flow Breathwork Training, which she completed in 2023. She integrates her love for people and healing with her commitment to yoga, creating a compassionate space for others to explore resilience and liberation.
